Marvel Comics is an American publishing company which was founded in 1939 under a different name and was subsequently rebranded in 1961. They are known as the company who brought some of the most popular and most successful comic books and characters to life. In the last decade, they were also one of the forerunners in bringing the comics to the big screen, many of which have made over $1 billion at the box office. 

Most of the characters were created by authors Stan Lee (who appears in every Marvel movie), Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby, some of the most well-liked being Wolverine and Jean Grey from the X-Men, Captain America, Iron Man and Black Panther from the Avengers and the Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic from The Fantastic Four. They were also responsible for the creation of super villains like Ultron, Magneto, the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and the Red Skull.
