Golf is an incredibly difficult game. Whether you've been playing for years or you just took up the sport, you have an appreciation for the challenge of taking a crooked stick and getting a tiny ball into a minuscule hole that is hundreds of yards away from you.Â
Golf also tends to reveal a person's true character. There's a good reason why so much business is conducted on a golf course. You are pretty much guaranteed to come face-to-face with adversity at some point in a round of golf. In a brutal way, how you handle that challenge will be on display for your entire group to see.
Similarly, there are certain preferences and tendencies that we believe give a clue as to your usual score. For example, the food you eat at the turn will offer some information as to whether you are prioritizing your athletic abilities or your taste buds at the half-way point in the round. We'll also take information about your set of clubs, your golf attire, and the general shape of your golf shots to come to a conclusion about the state of your game.

How many balls do you usually lose per round?
I lose somewhere around a dozen balls a round.
I usually go through a sleeve of balls in a round.

Have you ever taken a lesson?
People are giving me advice all the time, but I haven't had a lesson from a pro yet.
I've taken a lesson or two.
I have taken a bunch of lessons over the years.
I take regular, on-going golf lessons.
How many 3-putts do you generally have per round?
I might 3-putt once or twice a round.
I'll likely 3-putt a few times each round.
It's pretty rare for me to 3-putt.

I'd rather ride in a cart, but I don't mind walking once in a while.

They don't look like woods until they actually are woods.
I have a hybrid for what would be the 3 and 4-iron.
My hybrids start at the 5 or 6-iron.
Basically, my whole set is hybrids.
Where do you play most of your golf?

I used to, but I haven't reported scores in a while.

I have a bunch of different pairs of golf shoes.

Do you play by the rules?
Unless it's a competition of some kind, I'm not very strict on the rules.
I mostly play by the rules, but there are times where I'm just out for fun that I don't worry as much about it.

How many mulligans do you take in a round?
I usually hit a couple tee shots off of most tee boxes.
None, that isn't golf.
I'll usually take one mulligan for every nine holes.

I drink a lot when I play.

I usually let a few groups play through during a typical round.
I'm almost always playing through the group in front of me. I move fast.
I usually just keep the pace. I kind of hate playing through. It's so stressful.

If there were no one in front of you, how long would it generally take you to play 18-holes?
It would take under three hours.
I would guess that it would take about three and a half hours.
I'd be right at four hours.
I'm always over the four-hour mark, but, to be fair, I do hit a lot of shots.
When was the last time you whiffed completely on the ball?
It happened in the last round I played.
It's been a few years.
It's been a long time.
I can't remember the last time that happened.
Which snack sounds most appealing at the turn?

How high do you tee up the ball when hitting an iron?
I don't use a tee for an iron shot.
I tee it up a little bit off the ground.
I put it at the same height as my driver.
I basically put it so the ball is floating on top of the grass.
How often do you leave a ball mark when you hit a shot into a green?
It's a moment for celebration, for sure.
It's pretty common.
It's almost unheard of.
I'm fixing ball marks most of the time.
How regularly do you get the ball up and down from near the green?
It's a minor miracle when it happens.
I get up and down quite a lot.
I'm sure to get a few in each round.
I pull it off about half of the time.
